DVLA staff monkey around at Go Ape Margam Park

DVLA staff are going ape for a new challenge which aims to improve their health and well being in work.

The public sector organisation has signed up to Health Challenge Neath Port Talbot initiative which aims to improve the health and well being of public and private sector staff.

The initiative encourages business owners and managers to recognise that a healthy workforce can lead to wider benefits for businesses, such as increased productivity, higher morale and reduced sickness levels.

The free scheme, offers businesses a package of support, tools and benefits to help them encourage their staff to make lifestyle choices that can lead to improved health.

By signing up to the scheme businesses can access corporate gym membership and a web page containing information and advice to help them improve the health of their workforce and their business.

The DVLA were among the first 10 businesses to sign up on the launch day and as a result received free health checks for up to 30 of their staff. The Agency also won several tickets for staff to monkey around at Go Ape, Margam Parks latest attraction, giving winners the opportunity to put their team working skills to the test.

Linda Davies, Head of DVLA’s Health, Wellbeing and Attendance Team said “ensuring our staff are fit and healthy is high on our agenda. All of our employees spend a large proportion of their day at work, and it is important that we support them in looking after their health and wellbeing. I know they will appreciate the benefits on offer.

“And we can’t wait to start exploring the employer dedicated website which will enable us to offer informed and relevant tips and advice to our workforce.”

John Hewson from Neath, one of the employees lucky enough to win a Go Ape ticket, said “.We all had a great time, it was awesome. We all wanted to go around again”
