Anglesey is proud to host an annual Oyster and Welsh Produce Festival and this year sees the 12th festival take place.
It was a very different event in the early years – an informal social event whereby vast amounts of local oysters and alcohol were consumed – served with a strong music, singing and a Welsh and Irish dance offer.
A voluntary committee was formed in 2000 to direct the event into the future. The aim was to broaden the appeal for non seafood lovers, and as a result a Welsh Food Fair was introduced in 2000.
Now, there’s a busy programme of demonstrations in the kitchen to show you how to make the best of your oysters, with this year’s celebritychef, the Great British Menu winner Bryn Williams.
The full programme is available on the website.
