Police in the Rhondda are warning people to lock their doors at night following five burglaries in as many days.
Detectives have received reports of a woman trying door handles in the Pentre area and are following up enquiries in relation to this female.
One of the items stolen from a house was a pair of ladies jeans size 10 or 12.
Residents are reassured that extra patrols are being carried out to prevent further offences and catch the person responsible but in the meantime, residents are advised to lock their doors at night.
Detective Inspector Andy Jones, head of Rhondda CID, said: “This part of the Rhondda is a close-knit community where people feel confident in leaving their doors unlocked in the evenings.
“Unfortunately there are people out there who will take advantage of this trusting nature and look for easy opportunities to break into homes.
“We believe the person responsible has been walking the streets of Pentre and Ton Pentre trying door handles until they find one unlocked and then helping themselves to small items such as mobile phones, wallets and handheld computers.
“I would urge people to make sure their homes are secure, particularly in the hours of darkness, and of course ask anyone with information to contact us.”
Three burglaries happened in Albert Street, Pentre and one in Baglan Street, Pentre, overnight between Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13.
The fifth burglary was in Wyndham Street, Ton Pentre overnight Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17.
All of the properties were occupied at the time.
