Reporter gets on the cycle trail

A national newspaper journalist got on his bike last week to investigate Pembrokeshire’s cycle trails.

Chris Drew of the Sunday Mirror pedalled the Pembroke to St David’s leg of the National Cycle Network for an upcoming feature.

Accompanied by his cousin Phil Hough, he was guided along the trail by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Walking and Cycling Officer Paul Smith, who pointed out landmarks and beauty spots along the way.

“They had an excellent day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves – in spite of a few showers and some hills along the route!” said Paul Smith.

“They thought Pembrokeshire was every bit as good as Cornwall, but significantly cheaper and much friendlier.”

Highlights of the ride he said were the beaches of Broad Haven, Nolton Haven and Newgale, while the cycling visitors were particularly impressed by the variety of scenery along the Brunel cycle trail.

The feature is due to appear in the leisure supplement of the Sunday Mirror later this month.
