New Quay inshore lifeboat crew were called out on Monday night at 11pm to rescue a young woman in distress some forty metres off Traeth Gwyn.
The young woman was weighed down by her clothes and in a life threatening condition when the lifeboat, crewed by Brett Stones, Tim Harrison and Peter Yates, arrived at the scene. The casualty was taken to the pier at New Quay and subsequently transferred to an ambulance.
Lifeboat Operations Manager, Roger Couch, commented:
‘This incident demonstrates the benefit of having a lifeboat station close at hand manned by rapid reaction crews, putting to good use the funding raised by the public nationally and locally.’
