Boat run aground on rocks at Foxhole Bay, South Gower

Horton & Port Eynon Lifeboat crew were diverted from an exercise on Sunday morning at 10:30, to a report of a boat that had gone aground onto rocks at Foxhole Bay, South Gower.

The vessel had fired an orange smoke flare about an hour before the lifeboat was called, unfortunately nobody had reported seeing the flare. The 17ft boat had a flat battery and was unable to start the engine, without power it drifted towards rocks.

Oxwich Coastguard were also in attendance, and with an ebbing tide the vessel was now high and dry. The 2 persons aboard were safe and well.

Ensuring all was ok the volunteer lifeboat crew returned to the station ready for the next service.
