Barmouth RNLI lifeboats launch four times in hottest weekend of the year

Barmouth RNLI inshore Lifeboat was called out at 1.13pm on Saturday 26 June to assist the coastguard in searching for a missing eleven-year-old boy. As the lifeboat was scouring the coastline for the missing child, he was found safe and well on the beach by the coastguard.

At 7.10pm a report was received of a missing person on a jet ski. The man had launched at Black Rock Sands Porthmadog, and was eventually found by a pleasure boat near Sarn Y Bwch, which is located between Aberdyfi and Barmouth. The RNLI all weather lifeboat The Moira Barrie was despatched to recover the jet ski and the casualty and return them to Black Rock Sands. The all weather lifeboat sailed to Mochras Point where they passed the tow to Criccieth inshore lifeboat.

While The Moira Barrie was recovering the missing jet ski, there was another incident with a jet ski this time in Barmouth Harbour. At 7.39pm it was reported that a jet ski with one person on board had broken down in Barmouth Harbour and was last seen under Barmouth Bridge.

When the inshore lifeboat arrived on the scene, a speedboat was towing the craft. The inshore lifeboat took over the tow and handed the jet ski and the casualty to the coastguard. On Sunday 27 June the inshore lifeboat was launched at 12.41pm to assist two persons who were drifting in an inflatable yellow dinghy in choppy surf near The Perch.

On arrival two people were found to be in the water trying to help the people in the dinghy. All the people concerned were returned safely to shore by the volunteer RNLI crew.
