Step up to the challenge – Gwynedd Council walking activities this summer

Are you looking for a new hobby which will get you out and enjoying Gwynedd’s magnificent scenery with new friends?

Gwynedd Council’s Leisure Service will be holding a number of waking group taster sessions all over the county this summer – there will be something for all ages and abilities. Regular walking groups will then be organised following the taster sessions.

Councillor Roy Owen, who leads on leisure matters on Gwynedd Council, said: “Joining a walking group can be great fun as well as an excellent way of getting some exercise and making the most of what Gwynedd has to offer.

“In the coming weeks Gwynedd Council will be organising pram walks for parents, grandparents and babies along buggy-friendly routes.

“There will also be Nordic Walking sessions – this is the fastest growing fitness activity in the world. It is a highly effective, affordable and fun way to improve fitness as it applies specific techniques to walking to produce a better workout.

“If there is enough interest the Council will organise regular walking groups and there may be training available to those who wish to carry the groups on to the future.

“I would urge anyone who is interested to give it a go.”
