CCTV image of missing pensioner

South Wales Police has released CCTV image of the last sighting of missing pensioner William John Williams known locally as Johnny Boxer.

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of Mr Williams, 70, from the Rhondda, who has now been missing for five days.

Mr Williams, who has dementia and slurred speech, left his home address at Penygraig at 1pm on Friday, June 25 and has not been seen since by friends or family.

However following CCTV enquiries, footage has come to light which shows him in Dunraven Street, Tonypandy, at 1.12pm. He then disappears from view and it is not known which direction he went.

Chief Inspector Nigel Lewis said: “Since Mr Williams was reported missing to us on Friday, June 25 extensive enquiries have been made in the local area.

“We know that he often went on walks to Dinas, Trealaw and Tonypandy and this is where we have been focusing our attention.

“PCSOs have been handing out leaflets in the local community to raise awareness and we have had an excellent response from local people who have been extremely helpful as we try to trace Mr Williams.

“In addition we have had search teams on the ground looking for him and the force helicopter has been searching overhead.

“There is increasing concern for Mr Williams’ safety because of his age and medical condition and therefore I would appeal for anyone with information on where he is, or any recent sightings to contact us.”

Mr Williams is white, of heavy build with short grey hair, and is around 5ft 8in tall. He has a small scar under his lower lip and a black scar on his right forearm.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, brown trousers, black shoes and might be carrying a blue jacket.

If you have seen or have any information in relation to Mr Williams please contact South Wales Police on 101.
