Gwynedd and Anglesey children’s welfare under the spotlight

The Gwynedd and Anglesey Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) will be holding an open meeting at Technium Cast, Parc Menai, Bangor on Thursday, 8 July, 12-1pm.

The Board is a statutory body and coordinates work carried out by the public services to promote and safeguard children’s welfare in Gwynedd and Anglesey.

The meeting is for people working with children, and those who represent the interests of children, to hear about the Gwynedd and Anglesey LSCB business plan for 2010-13.

Issues to be discussed at the meeting will include the LSCB’s safeguarding strategy, statistical information, confirm the board’s priorities and to consider the challenges ahead.

Iwan Trefor Jones, Chairman of the Gwynedd and Anglesey LSCB, said:

“The Board’s responsibilities are varied and involves working with a number of other agencies such as the voluntary sector, the police and health workers.

“We are dedicated to protecting children from abuse and making sure that their health and development is not affected by preventable circumstances. Our work is also driven by our belief that children should grow up in safe and caring environment.

“I would urge anyone who works within this sphere to come to the meeting in Bangor, or to contact us for more information about the Board.”

Light refreshments will be served at the end of the meeting.
