In a bid to fight malnutrition in the community especially among the elderly, Caerphilly Meals on Wheels service launched a brand new improved two choice menu during National Meals on Wheels Week.
The new five week rotational menu gives customers a much wider choice of meals including traditional roast dinners, international favourite lasagne, and the ever popular chicken korma and rice.
Caerphilly Meals on Wheels is a valuable service providing choice and quality as well as value for money. Each recipe has been carefully created by a team of local chefs; working closely with dieticians, they ensure the nourishment and subsequent independence of those living at home and others using the service.
Nutritional meals for the housebound are prepared locally from fresh and healthy ingredients. More than 500 hot meals are prepared and delivered by Caerphilly Catering staff Monday to Friday, together with sandwiches for teatime and frozen meals to cover weekends.
However, Caerphilly Meals on Wheels is about more than just providing and delivering food, they also play a vital part in providing social interaction during the day.
In addition to the meals being delivered to residents in their homes, the new choice of meals is also delivered every week to luncheon clubs across the county borough.
