Flintshire County Council’s Library and Information Service is inviting entries for its annual poetry competition, “Poetry Power”. It is open to people aged 16 and above, living or working in the catchment area of a Flintshire Library.
Entrants may submit up to three original poems in total, written in English or Welsh. Prizes will be awarded for the best entries in each language. Entry forms with full details are available in all Flintshire libraries. Closing date for entries is Friday 27th August.
This year’s English entries will be judged by former Cheshire poet laureate Joy Winkler and the Welsh poems will be judged by poet and academic Eurig Salisbury.
Prizes will be awarded and winning poems will be read at the @nswers centre in Mold Library and Museum on Thursday 7th October. An exhibition of successful entries will tour selected Flintshire libraries in the weeks following the prize-giving.
Further details of the competition are available from Simon Gotts, Information Librarian on 01352 754791.
