Shadow Minister for Equality Mohammad Asghar has highlighted how important it is for the Welsh public sector to pay bills to private companies as efficiently as possible.
During the Assembly’s weekly business statement, Mr Asghar asked for a “statement on how the Welsh Assembly Government is collaborating with local authorities to encourage and promote good practice across the whole Welsh public sector”.
Mr Asghar, who represents the South Wales East region, highlighted how an agreement at the Welsh Economic Summit in 2008 noted that “local government and the Welsh Government would aim to increase the proportion of payments made within 10 days”.
However, he added that some of his constituents are “suffering” because local authorities had been slow in paying bills.
