The premier of a Cycle Safety film made by Pembroke School’s Year 7 students was held recently at the school.
Entitled ‘On Your Bike’, the film is designed to inform 11-14 year olds about the benefits and dangers of cycling and will be shown in schools across Pembrokeshire.
As part of their English and Skills lessons, each of the nine forms researched, wrote and, with the help of internationally renowned film company media4schools, shot a three-minute section of the film about a particular aspect of cycle safety.
The show was a great success, with the pupils thrilled to see the result of their endeavours on the big screen.
Katie Boyle won the prize for the best leaflet or poster. The prizes for the best off-camera work went to Charlotte Harries and Ellie Frearson.
Evan Phillips and Phoebe Aries won the awards for best on-camera work and the form prize for the best section of the film went to 7A for their highly entertaining film on bike maintenance.
This was a project funded by Pembrokeshire County Council Road Safety Unit and the Welsh Assembly Road Safety Grant, with further sponsorship from Chevron and the Pembrokeshire Health and Wellbeing Unit.
