Fundraisers donation to Mumbles RNLI Lifeboat appeal

A team of local fundraisers from Mumbles helped their local lifeboat appeal to its landmark halfway point in raising £150,000 towards the £2.7 million needed for the new Tamar class lifeboat for the Mumbles.

The Mumbles 41 Club have a sleigh ride at Christmas in Mumbles and make a charity collection as the families wave to Santa as he passes.

Ian Faull, Media Past Chairman said:

‘This year we were invited to look around the lifeboat station and we were impressed with the set up there. They have a list of items which you can buy for the new boat from life jackets to anchors and we thought it would be nice to put £250 into the pot to buy a steering wheel.’

Beverley Rosser Smith area fundraising manager for the RNLI said:

‘We’ve had some inspiring fundraising from the general public over the last 12 months with money being raised by everything from cake sales to the very successful Welly Walk recently. All we can say is thank you and keep the money coming in, we love wacky ideas but an early gift from Santa really is marvellous and thanks to the 41 Club for their efforts.’

The RNLI has set a £150,000 fundraising target over the next two years towards a new £2.7m Tamar class boat for Mumbles. The Tamar lifeboats are the most advanced vessels operated by the RNLI, providing all weather rescue capabilities and will replace the current Tyne class rescue boat that currently serves Mumbles.
