The Colwyn Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team came to the rescue of two stranded carnival queens when their carriage broke down.
The clutch on the vehicle they were travelling in burnt out towards the end of Sunday’s parade, so to prevent their beautiful gowns being damaged by rain, the officers gave them a lift in a police vehicle
PCSO Naomi Hill explained: “The Neighbourhood Policing Team were invited along to assist with traffic control, and to deal with any potential problems.”
She added: “We were happy to help them out on the last leg of their journey to Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre, to prevent rain damage to their lovely dresses.”
The annual carnival saw a good turn out despite the inclement weather, with carnival queens and their entourages coming from all over North Wales to join in the procession from the Pier to Eirias Park. The parade was led by the town’s Mayor Mrs Hazel Meredith and accompanied by numerous troupes of local dancers.
Various stalls and attractions were laid on in Eirias Park, organised by Town Centre Manager Ingrid Lewis and Councillor Chris Hughes.
