At 2.58pm today (Tuesday, August 3) police received a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the road between Dolgellau and Barmouth.
The Ambulance service were informed and attended.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicles involved were a Yamaha motorbike and Ford Mondeo.
The road is estimated to be closed for at least the next three hours.
There are no further details at present.
