Denbighshire County Council officers teamed up with North Wales Police recently to combat environmental crime.
Operation ‘Anti’ took place in Rhyl town centre on 4 August.
Seven enforcement officers and two police officers patrolled in pre-determined zones in the town to tackle two on the most reported environmental crimes, namely dog fouling and littering.
During the course of the operation, other environmental issues came to light, including the sales of motor vehicles, unauthorised signs and the removal of hazardous waste. Incidents involving public safety were referred to the police.
A total of 36 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued to offending members of the public, 2 juveniles were cautioned, advice and warnings were given as appropriate.
This operation is the first of a series to be carried out by Denbighshire and Conwy Community Safety Partnership in both counties in the coming months, emphasising a robust attitude towards tackling environmental crime.
