Over sixty lifeboat crew and supporters pulled on their wellies last week to show their support and raise vital funds towards the RNLI Mumbles Appeal.
The Mumbles lifeboat crew have been tasked to raise £150,000 by the end of 2011 towards their new Tamar class lifeboat. The Welly Walk was the first of many events in the area to raise funds towards the Mumbles Appeal.
Already over £300 has been collected from the Welly Walk that took place on Swansea Bay. Sponsorship money from across the area is still coming in and it’s not to late to donate towards this worthy appeal.
Bev Rosser-Smith, RNLI Area Fundraising Manager said:
‘The Welly Walk was a very successful first event. I would like to thank everyone who supported the crew and helped out in any way during the evening.’
Bev continues:
‘I would like to send out a plea to anyone who has outstanding donations to send in their sponsorship so that we can add the amount towards the Mumbles Appeal.’
The Welly Walkers also linked up with participants in a sponsored Summer Sprint, which took place on the same evening at Swansea Bay. The Summer Sprinters also had a successful evening as they ran across Swansea Bay to raise vital funds for the RNLI Lifeguards.
