National Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar has welcomed the launch of a new telephone service in Wales from the charity Citizens Advice.
Adviceline Cymru is a bilingual service which provides callers with information, can recommend other appropriate local organisations and services and will also set up face to face appointments when needed.
The Citizens Advice charity is looking for English and Welsh speaking volunteers from across South Wales East to help answer the phones – and Mr Asghar has encouraged volunteers to come forward.
Mr Asghar, who represents South Wales East at the National Assembly, said: “Citizens Advice offers a great service and the charity is reliant on volunteers.
“I understand enquiries to bureaux across Wales rose by 11% last year so I encourage people across South Wales to get involved to help meet demand”.
The Conservative Shadow Minister for Equality added: “People from all backgrounds should look to get involved. Volunteers will receive all training and be based at their local bureaux and will acquire some crucial new skills along the way.”
Those interested in volunteering can visit: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/amazeyourself for more information and an application pack, or call: 08451 264 264 (English language line) or 01286 676 514* (Welsh language line). Call costs will apply.
