Swansea will be serving up a feast of live music, dance and culinary delights when World Party Weekend returns to Museum Park in front of the National Waterfront Museum on August 28 and 29.
Communities from across the globe, from Latin America to Asia, will be represented at the free annual festival.
The event celebrates Swansea’s multicultural mix, including the Bangladeshi Integration Group, Swansea Chinese Centre and the Arab and Muslim communities.
Swansea is Wales’ first City of Sanctuary due to its history of offering sanctuary to people who have fled from violence or persecution.
On bank holiday weekend groups will share an insight into their heritage through interactive workshops, music and dance. Traditional clothing, crafts and delicious food will also be available to buy.
Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events Frances Jenkins said: “World Party Weekend is a great opportunity to showcase Swansea’s rich cultural diversity and for people to experience a whole host of international traditions and cultures all in one place.”
The entertainment will kick-off on Saturday with Swansea’s very own Samba Tawe erupting onto The Corus Stage to start the weekend celebrations. This will be followed by an impressive blend of world rhythms including a Ceilidh group, an Indian dance group, belly dancing and Capoeira to name but a few.
Sunday’s live music includes the infectious sounds of Robert Maseko & the Congo Beat along with performances from Buena Risca Social Clwb, The Amigos, The Coal Porters and Mankala. Off-stage, community workshops, demonstrations and tasters will continue.
Meanwhile, organisers behind World Party Weekend have announced that the event is to be run in association with Tata Steel who manufacture, process and distribute steel products and services to customers worldwide and are delighted to be involved in such a wonderful community event as World Party Weekend.
