Grant applications are now being taken by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council to support community groups who organise firework displays to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.
Following on from the success of last year’s scheme, eligible community groups can now apply for grants of up to £500 to organise their own firework displays and also receive help and advice on safety at the event.
The Council’s Safety Advisory Group which is made up of the Fire and Ambulance Services, South Wales Police and relevant council officers, assess each application carefully, against strict criteria, to ensure that all risk assessment and appropriate paperwork has been completed satisfactorily. The successful applications will then receive a grant towards the cost of organising their own Guy Fawkes event.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas said:
“Last year 6 community groups were awarded a grant of £500 each, the maximum amount available.
“I am delighted that our successful scheme is available again this year. By encouraging smaller, individual displays throughout the county borough, residents in all our communities will have an opportunity to celebrate Bonfire Night safely.”
