RNLI lifeboat crew and lifeguards help assist broken down jet ski

Port Talbot RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out at 7:45pm on Friday 13th August after reports that a broken down jet ski had been washed against the rocky sea defences on the North pier at Aberavon Beach, Port Talbot.

The jet ski was initially spotted by one of the RNLI lifeguards with two people in the water attempting to stop the jet ski going against the rocks. The lifeguard had paddled out on a rescue board to the jet ski to see if he could assist. However he was unable to do so and alerted the coastguard.

Port Talbot inshore lifeboat was soon on scene and both people, a father and son, were taken on board the lifeboat. A tow was established on the jet ski and it was towed into the River Afan where it was recovered onto its launching trolley at the local boat club.

Both people, who were wearing life jackets, did not require medical attention.
