Gwent Police is appealing for information following a pile of clothes being set alight in a block of flats yesterday morning, Sunday 15th August at approximately 5.30am.
The clothes were left in a communal area outside one of the flats on Carbonne Close, Monmouth.
No evacuations were necessary and nobody was injured, however there was a significant amount of smoke damage to the interior of the building.
Officers are treating the fire as deliberately set and the incident is currently under investigation.
