Aberystwyth RNLI volunteer crew were called on service twice on Friday to assist a broken down cabin cruiser and an inflatable dinghy.
The inshore lifeboat was first called out at 11:45am to assist a broken down cabin cruiser 7 miles south west of Aberystwyth. The 23-foot Sea Mist with one person on board suffered engine failure and radioed Milford Haven coastguards asking for assistance. The lifeboat was found the stricken vessel and took it under tow back to Aberystwyth harbour.
The volunteer lifeboat crew were called out again at 08:02pm to assist a small inflatable dinghy after the Coastguard received a concerned call from a member of the public.
A member of the public telephoned Coastguards when they became concerned over a small inflatable dinghy, which they thought was in difficulties off Clarach Bay, three miles north of Aberystwyth.
When the lifeboat arrived on scene they found the six foot boat approximately a quarter of a mile off the shore. The two teenagers on board refused assistance from the lifeboat and were adamant that they could make their way ashore unaided.
The lifeboat crew decided to remain on scene to ensure that the boat was able to reach the shore, but after a few minutes, the dinghy was drifting close to rocks on the southern side of the bay, so the lifeboat crew insisted that the two youths be assisted by the lifeboat back to the beach, which they finally accepted.
