Two calls to inflatable dinghy in four days

The Aberystwyth RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched at 6.33pm yesterday to reports of a small inflatable dinghy that appeared to be in difficulties off Aberystwyth north beach.

Members of the public had contacted the coastguards after hearing shouts from the dinghy and saw the people on board waving paddles in the air. When they arrived on scene, the lifeboat crew realised it was the same 6-foot dinghy, and the same two teenage occupants, that they had been called to just four days earlier off Clarach Bay.

The two youths said they were not in difficulty, and did not need assistance and were very indignant that the lifeboat had been called out to them again, but the crew insisted that they escort them back to shore where they were given sea safety advice by Aberystwyth Coastguards.
