Police are appealing for information after reports of pets being attacked on a Caernarfon housing estate.
PCSO Annette Jones is urging residents at Maesincla, to help catch those responsible and is asking anyone who may have seen any incidents to get in touch.
She said: We take these reports very seriously and we will be checking CCTV footage to see if we can indentify the offenders.”
The appeal comes following a meeting of concerned residents who claim that there have been several incidents of animal cruelty on the estate.
PCSO Jones said that along with two other officers, she attended the public meeting which was chaired by local councillor, Dylan Jones.
Cllr Jones said that they wanted to raise awareness over the recent problems and hoped that residents would report any occurrences that they may witness.
“It is important that we try to tackle this issue in any way we can and I urge anybody who witnesses any cruel acts to inform the police at the earliest opportunity or they can call anonymously the RSPCA helpline on 0300 1234 999,” he said.
One resident who did not wish to be named said: “My eleven year old daughter’s pet cat was found shot dead in the school field in Maesincla. She has been left heartbroken.”
Another resident, who also did not want to be named said: There have been several incidences on the estate of cats being hunted with dogs late at night. The police are aware and we know who they are. I would urge these people to think about what they are doing and please stop it.”
