Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking the views of residents to aid the development of its new equality scheme.
A draft Single Equality Scheme (SES) for the next three years 2010-2013 has just been published and the Council would like to hear from you.
The new SES follows the Equality Act 2010, which aims to harmonise legislation on a range of equality topics including age, disability, race, religion and sexual orientation.
“The Single Equality Scheme is for everyone who lives in, works in or visits Pembrokeshire and reinforces our commitment to the equality and diversity agenda,” said Pembrokeshire County Council’s Equality officer, Stephen Butler.
“It highlights the extent of equality issues locally, acknowledges the achievements that we have made in key service areas and identifies actions that we plan to take to improve the lives of the people we serve,” he said.
“We want to know if you think that we’ve taken the right overall approach to developing the scheme and whether the actions we’re proposing to take are appropriate and achievable.
All responses will remain anonymous and will be treated confidentially. ”
The draft SES and feedback forms are available in hard copy from the Council’s contact centre on 01437 764551 or can be viewed online at www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay
The closing date for the return of feedback forms is Friday October 29th with the scheme expected to be finalised in December.
