Leanne Wood AM is seeking assurances about the future operation of the popular Cardiff-based Red Dragon radio station.
The South Wales Central AM has written after owners Global Radio i announced that from January next year Red Dragon would become Capital Wales as part of a UK shake-up.
Leanne Wood said: “I’ve written to the company because I think it is important that local radio stations have an affinity with the area they serve.
“In addition, to music Red Dragon provides a valuable news and sports service to its listeners and I don’t want any London-based shake-up to affect that.
“I noted from the announcement that breakfast and drive-time shows as well as local news bulletins will continue. But I want to find out if there will be any diminution in local content as a result of this shake-up.
“There are major events happening in Wales next year with the referendum and the National Assembly elections so it is important that Red Dragon plays its part in feeding information to listeners.
“It has also been suggested that 20 jobs across the UK as a result of the changes and I want to find out whether any of those will be staff based in Cardiff,” added the Plaid AM.
