Budding entrepreneurs in Swansea have the chance to access top business tips thanks to expert advisors and a number of new courses which are being planned over the autumn months.
Business Centre Swansea based on St Mary’s Square is holding free sessions for people who’d like to start a business or people keen for advice on how to produce a business plan.
The centre is run by Swansea Council and has helped 55 businesses start up since the start of April. The centre offers comprehensive help with subjects like business plans and marketing and has also dealt with 454 enquiries in the last five months.
The start your own business taster sessions take place on Mondays at Business Centre Swansea, the Guildhall or the Civic Centre from now until December 20. They last from 9.15am to 1pm and cover the advantages and disadvantages of self-employment, the legal aspects of starting a business, sources of funding, an introduction to business planning and the support available from Business Centre Swansea.
The three-day business planning course gives people the tools to produce a practical business plan. Attendees will generally have attended the start your own business course beforehand and will have had a meeting with a business advisor. The course covers market research, operations, costing and pricing, financial planning, business banking, VAT, PAYE and internet marketing.
The sessions take place at Business Centre Swansea on the following dates:
- October 4, October 5 and October 6.
- October 26, October 27 and October 28.
- November 15, November 16 and November 17.
- December 6, December 7 and December 8.

“These courses offer a wealth of information and will be invaluable to all who attend.”
Funding for the courses comes from The Welsh Assembly Government.
