Cardiff City Football Club Community Foundation and the Football Pools Launch New Disability Football Initiative

Cardiff City Football Club Community Foundation will be presented with £40,000 by The Football Pools at their home game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday 28 September.

The presentation marks the announcement of an exciting new scheme that will increase disability football provision across the region.

The innovative and community based project aims to increase opportunities, provision and access to football for disabled players across Cardiff and South Wales.

Every Player Counts is a leading project of The Football League Trust and is supported by The Football Pools.

As part of the initiative Cardiff City Football Club Community Foundation in partnership with Sport.Cardiff, Cardiff Council’s Sports Development Department will deliver a two-year, PAN-Disability scheme.

Cardiff City FC Community Foundation is one of 44 Football League Community Schemes to deliver Every Player Counts, the first National PAN-Disability programme since the scheme was launched in 2009.

Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture Cllr Nigel Howells said; “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Cardiff City Football Club Community Foundation to deliver the Make Every Player Count Programme. This project will further develop and increase our provision and opportunities for disabled footballers in Cardiff.”
