A series of road closures will be in place on Sunday September 26 on the day of the Admiral Swansea Bay 10K.
The road closure order is in place between noon and 3pm while thousands of runners take to the coastline in the annual event.
Roads will be closed on a rolling basis as the race progresses and signs showing alternative routes will be put in place where appropriate. It’s anticipated that all roads will reopen by 2pm.
The main race starts from outside St Helen’s on Mumbles Road at 1pm.
The following stretches of road will be affected:
Mumbles Road
Closed both directions from Guildhall Road South to Sketty Lane. Left turn only onto Mumbles Road and Oystermouth Road from Guildhall Road South. The road closure is in place between noon and approximately 1.30pm.
Mumbles Road
Closed westbound from Sketty Lane to Mayals Road between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm.
Mumbles Road
Reduced to a single eastbound lane from Mayals Road to Sketty Lane between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm while the race is in progress.
Mumbles Road
Closed both directions from Mayals Road to Fairwood Road between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm while the race is in progress.
Mumbles Road
Closed westbound from Fairwood Road to Dunns Lane between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm. The alternative route is via West Cross Lane, West Cross Avenue, Castle Road/Lime Kiln Road and Chapel Street.
Brynmill Lane
Closed both directions from Bryn Road to Mumbles Road between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm. No alternative route to Mumbles Road will be available due to the Mumbles Road closure.
Sketty Lane
Closed southbound in its entirety between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm. No alternative route to Mumbles Road will be available due to the Mumbles Road closure. Access will be allowed for visitors to Singleton Hospital, the Wales National Pool, the University Playing fields and Swansea University via the hospital.
Fairwood Road
Closed southbound from Heathwood Road/West Cross Lane to Mumbles Road between 12.45 and approximately 1.45pm.
Nigel Jones, Swansea Council’s Strategic Events Manager, said: “We have approximately 3,500 runners taking part in the event with many raising money for charitable causes. Ensuring public safety is always a priority but we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
