National Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar has urged the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that it promotes Welsh produce as fully as possible when major events come to Wales.
Speaking ahead of the long-anticipated Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor Resort, the South Wales East AM said: “While I welcome events such as the supplier forum held in Newport earlier this year … given the magnitude of this event, we must maximise all opportunities to promote Wales and its produce beyond our national borders”.
Speaking in the Senedd, Mr Asghar also paid tribute to some of the award-winning produce from the South Wales East region.
He asked the First Minister to join him in congratulating a number of local businesses who won awards over the summer in the Great Taste awards – including Wernddu Organics, N.S. James Family Butchers and Tudor Brewery in Monmouthshire, and Avana Bakeries Limited in Newport.
Mr Asghar hailed their successes as “a fine achievement for produce in South Wales East”.
