Monday, 11th October is World Mental Health Day 2010.
To mark the day and to help raise awareness of mental health issues, Conwy County Borough Council, with support from the mental health agency Unllais, is organising the Make a World of Difference event at Glasdir, Llanrwst.
It is estimated that approximately 450 million people worldwide have a mental health problem (WHO 2001) and that 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year.
According to Health Challenge Wales experts, “Good mental health is important because it influences how we think and feel about ourselves and others. It can also affect how we deal with everyday events, such as relationships and coping with change.”
“To be mentally well we have to try to value ourselves and others. We need to look after our physical health, eat well, exercise, learn something new and take notice of what’s around us.”
“I hope everyone will be able to take something from the event, whether you have previous experience of mental health issues or not.”
The Make a World of Difference event is open to everyone, and features workshops, holistic therapies, community projects and courses, information, advocacy and ways to get involved – the event offers something for everyone.
Just drop in or come for the whole day at Glasdir, Llanrwst from 10am- 6pm.
