Sarah has her say on Childcare

Sarah Parry, a mum of two from Aberbargoed, is planning to start her Christmas shopping early this year after bagging £100 worth of high street vouchers.

Sarah received the prize after taking part in a special childcare survey organised by Caerphilly county borough council to help shape childcare provision in the area.

Back in May, the council published a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment in survey form and to date has received over 900 responses. Sarah Parry was selected at random to receive the £100 prize as a thank you for taking part.

The other winners were Jenny McMullen of Caerphilly who won a 3 month family leisure centre membership and Stephanie Barrett, aged 10, from Make Time 2 Play Club in Ystrad Mynach who won £10 Argos voucher for completing the After School Club questionnaire.

Cllr Phil Bevan, Cabinet Member for Education and Leisure is pleased to see so many Caerphilly residents have returned the survey, “It is crucial that we get it right when it comes to childcare provision as we are shaping the lives of our youngest residents. With the input of so many parents, childcare professionals and children we are able to deliver the service that they so rightly deserve.”

The last Childcare Sufficiency Assessment was carried out in 2007 and as a result of the survey a further 800 childcare places were established within the county borough.

In order to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to have their say, the survey deadline has been extended to October 31st.
