Tenders invited for construction work on A487 Glandyfi bends

Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates has welcomed the news that progress is underway for road improvements on the A487 at Glandyfi.

In answer to a written question from Mr Bates on the A487 Glandyfi bends, the Minister for Transport Ieuan Wyn Jones confirmed that the Welsh Government has ‘invited tenders for construction which is due to start next year.’

Commenting, Assembly Member Mick Bates said:

“I am really pleased to see the tender process commence for the work on the A487 Glandyfi bends.  Local residents have worked hard to raise safety concerns over this stretch of road for some thirty years, so work is long overdue.

“The lanes are too narrow for large vehicles and can delay access to services in Aberystwyth, such as Bronglais Hospital, so it is high time for action.

“The Minister has confirmed that work will commence to improve the Glandyfi bends next year and I will be keeping up the pressure to ensure that construction sticks to schedule.”
