In the run up to Halloween and Bonfire night, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team on Anglesey are getting ready to tackle anti social behaviour and related crimes with a number of proactive initiatives.
One of the initiatives involves a Bonfire Night disco, which has been organised by PCSO Adrian Williams with assistance from Anglesey County Council’s Youth Services Team.
Youngsters from Bodedern and surrounding villages have been invited to attend the disco which will take place at Bodedern Village Hall on Friday, 5th of November.
Funding for the disco has been made available through Community Fire Safety and the North Wales Arson Reduction Team and facilitated by PACT (Police and Community Trust).
“With help from the Youth Services department at Anglesey County Council I’ve organised a disco for the local youth clubs,” said PCSO Adrian Williams.
“We have hired the village hall for the disco and are also arranging transportation for the youngsters from the surrounding communities. Police staff and staff from Youth Services will also be in attendance on the evening.
“It’s so beneficial for us to build relationships with the young people and it’s great to provide them with fun things to do in a supervised environment.”
PCSO Williams has also been carrying out preventative work by attending various youth clubs in the run up to the Halloween and Bonfire Night period to speak to youngsters about how anti social behaviour can affect others within the community.
He added: “We have been anxious to get across key messages about community safety in the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night so we decided to visit all the local youth clubs in the area to distribute posters and leaflets.
“I do regularly visit the clubs and I enjoy meeting the youngsters and seek to establish a good rapport with them so they are confident in dealing with and respecting the police.”
Isle of Anglesey County Countil Principal Youth Officer, Enid Williams said: “We’re glad to have been able to support PCSO Williams in organising this event in Bodedern. Halloween and Bonfire Night invariably cause problems for the Emergency Services, so arranging an organised event to keep youngsters occupied and entertained is a great idea.”
