It’s business as usual for Bryngarw House, one of the borough’s most well-known and popular venues.
Bridgend County Borough Council, which owns Bryngarw House, is considering the best option for managing it in the future.
Cabinet members have now agreed that competitive bids should be sought for Bryngarw House with a view to it being managed or even acquired by the private sector.
A report will now be presented to Cabinet early in 2011 which will recommend a preferred option for Bryngarw House.
However customers who have already booked a wedding or party at Bryngarw are being advised that there is no need to change any plans they already have with the venue.
Bryngarw House is a Grade II listed country house, and is a well-established wedding, training and conference venue as well as offering high-quality accommodation and a popular restaurant.
But in a difficult financial climate where the council is considering all its efficiency options, continuing to subsidise and invest in Bryngarw will be challenging and it is thought that it might appeal to local and regional hotel owners and operators as a well-established business.
The plans do not affect Bryngarw Country Park.
