Ashley-Cooper targetting un-beaten tour

Wales’ first opponents in the Invesco Perpetual Series, Australia are targeting an ‘un-beaten’ European tour this Autumn according to Adam Ashley-Cooper.

The 26-year-old utility back, who plays his club rugby for the Brumbies believes the Wallabies are more than capable of going through the tour undefeated.

Australia stop off in Hong Kong to face New Zealand on October 30 before lining up against Wales, England, Italy and France throughout November.

“I think in the back of everyone’s mind that (an unbeaten tour) is what everyone wants to achieve,” said Ashley-Cooper.

“We haven’t spoken about it but I’m sure everyone’s thinking about it, because how good would an unbeaten tour be.

“It’s an important tour for all of us, not only individually for selection but collectively as a team because it’s our last time that we’re probably together this year before a World Cup year, and that’s important to us.”

Before arriving in Europe Ashley-Cooper’s side play the Tri-Nations Champions New Zealand and will be looking to end a 10-match losing streak against their arch rivals and begin the tour is in the perfect fashion.

“Obviously you can’t get too far ahead of yourselves and first is Hong Kong … and (beating the All Blacks) is our main focus,” he added.

“We want to get that win, it’s very important to us

“Leading in to next year it’s very, very important.”
