Patients who travel by bus to the Resource Centre on Baglan Moors have received some good news this week.
Thanks to the efforts of Neath Port Talbot Council and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU), access by bus will now be a lot easier.
Local bus operator, Ridgeways Coaches, has agreed to start running a service linking Port Talbot bus station with Neath Port Talbot Hospital and the Resource Centre.
The new service will run from Monday 6th December.
Council Leader, Ali Thomas, has welcomed the news that a solution has been found.
He said, “We’ve agreed with ABMU to build an accessible bus stop at the rear of the resource centre in Moor Road which will be much closer for patients than the existing bus stops in Christchurch Road.
“This will make things much easier for visitors to the centre.”
“We are pleased with the announcement of this new service and the benefits it will have for patients and other Centre users,” added Karl Murray, Head of Operations at the Neath Port Talbot Locality Office.
Company representative, Darren Ridgeway, says, “Our number 9 service will serve Little Warren and other areas of Sandfields providing direct links to the resource centre.
“We’ll also be providing connections from Cwmavon and Margam at Port Talbot bus station.”
