Plaid AMs volunteer pay freeze

Plaid Cymru AMs have volunteered a pay freeze as part of their discussions with the remuneration board looking at expenditure in the Assembly. In a letter to the board, Plaid’s deputy leader, Helen Mary Jones AM, outlined that they are supportive of a pay freeze and that such action should take place as soon as possible.

Llanelli Assembly Member, Helen Mary Jones said:

“At a time when many public sector workers across Wales have to undergo a pay freeze we felt as a group it was only right that we face the same conditions. We strongly felt that contacting the board to volunteer to have our pay frozen was important at a time where we are fighting against such savage public sector job cuts.”

Plaid Chief Whip, Chris Franks AM added:

“We wanted to take a proactive approach to this and so I was very pleased that the Plaid group were united in their decision to approach the board suggesting that a pay freeze takes place as soon as possible.”
