Six community initiatives across Caerphilly county borough have been given the green light, after Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet recently agreed to fully support and ensure the funding of the projects through the Community Regeneration Fund.
Organisations from the Voluntary Sector and Community Groups from Caerphilly county borough were invited to submit bids to the Community Regeneration Fund to help fund worthwhile projects and initiatives that promote the wellbeing of Caerphilly county borough citizens.
The initiatives to receive funding through the Community Regeneration Fund are:
- Graig y Rhacca Resource Centre Extension – to receive £24,240 capital
- St Gwladys Church – Venue for Musical Events – to receive £25,000 capital
- St Helen’s Community Centre to receive £8,290.53 capital
- Phillipstown Residents & Community Association – Blooming Lovely Project – to receive £831.95 capital and £12,578.42 revenue
- Caerphilly People First – Training People with Disabilities to Train – to receive £20,000 revenue
- GAVO – Voluntary & Community Sector Crime Reduction Officer – to receive £28,343.62 revenue
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Countryside, Cllr Ron Davies said, “I am delighted that Cabinet have agreed to support this series of extremely worthwhile initiatives through the Community Regeneration Fund.”
He continued, “This new scheme aims to foster and enhance viable and sustainable communities within Caerphilly county borough, and enable voluntary sector organisations and community groups across our county borough to take forward initiatives they have developed which are of benefit to the entire community.”

The multi-agency decision making panel that examined the bids also recommended that Cabinet partially support a bid from the Wyllie Residents Association for a new memorial for the village. Cabinet agreed to provide £8,400 funding from the Community Regeneration Fund towards the project.
Voluntary Organisations and Community Groups from Caerphilly county borough are invited to submit bids for funding for community projects and initiatives for one of up to three rounds of funding from the scheme every year, subject to the availability of resources.
