Milford Haven Junior School have celebrated achieving the bronze Pembrokeshire Sustainable Schools Award.
The pupils have been taking steps to introduce a recycling scheme in school, encouraging healthy living and looking after their gardens.
They are just about to plant bulbs as part of the Spring Bulbs for Schools scheme in partnership with the National Museum of Wales, which every year records when the bulbs come into flower, building up a picture across Wales.
“With over sixty children in the Eco club the whole school has really come on board by thinking globally and acting locally”, said Andrew Deacon, the co-ordinator.
“Now we are going to put our best reduced carbon footprint forward as we stride towards our silver award.”
The school was congratulated on their achievement by Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Learning and the Welsh Language, who presented them with their award – a wooden plaque made in Cilrhedyn sustainable woodlands.
The Sustainable Schools Award scheme recognises efforts to improve the local environment and quality of life now, without damaging the planet for future generations.
