Sounds like change on BBC Radio Cymru

From today, there is a different sound to C2, BBC Radio Cymru’s evening service, with a refreshed line-up of presenters raring to hit the airwaves.

Radio Cymru’s early morning presenter Lisa Gwilym, returns to her first love, music, in a new programme from 8pm-10pm every night, and she can’t wait.

“I’m passionate about music,” says Henllan-raised Lisa, who now lives in Felinheli. “The aim is to introduce a real mix of the best music, in a way that appeals to everybody.

“I love presenting on the radio. It’s such an intimate medium that allows you to make a real connection with the listeners. I have to admit that it doesn’t feel like work, I enjoy it so much – I’m exceptionally lucky.

“The programme itself will be lively with interesting guests, backed up by the some quality sounds – the best in music. I’m raring to go!”

Another face joining C2 is Ifan Evans. Ifan will present the 10-12pm slot every Tuesday evening, with Huw Stephens, Daniel Glyn and Huw Evans presenting the rest of the week and a guest presenter on Wednesday evenings.

A familiar face on TV, Ifan is looking forward to becoming a regular presenter on C2.

“Switching from presenting on TV to Radio is a real challenge,” says Ifan, who manages to combine his presenting work with farming in Tregaron. “It’s a real challenge but one I’m really looking forward to. The main thing for me is to enjoy it, and hopefully the listeners will get involved and join in the chaos as well.”

Another exciting development to the C2 service is Dodd com, presenter Magi Dodd’s new project. Every night at 7pm Dodd com will be streamed live and exclusively on bbc.co.uk/c2, supporting Magi’s regular visits to various schools in Wales as part of the C2 Ciwdod Schools Tour.

“Every night at 7pm on bbc.co.uk/c2, I’ll be letting web users choose the music,” says Magi. “They can talk about whatever they want to discuss and listen to whatever they want to listen to. This will all happen on Twitter, Facebook and the C2 website. There will be webcams in the studio so that everyone feels like part of the project. And of course I’ll be reflecting and reporting on the C2 Ciwdod Schools Tour, which now happens every year throughout Wales. Dodd com is such a new and exciting project and the whole team is very enthusiastic.”
