‘Can Do’ conference aimed at youngsters

Youngsters on Anglesey are being invited to a ‘can do’ conference next week, where they’ll have a chance to learn more about entrepreneurial skills.

The Llwyddo’n Lleol (Succeeding Locally) conference is aimed at helping young people develop a healthy outlook on employment; gain self-confidence and the skills needed to start their own business in a rural economy.

The conference – to be held at Cartio Môn, Bryngwran, on Thursday evening, November 18th – will include guest speakers giving an insight into the business world and a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style competition encouraging fresh and exciting ventures.

The evening is open to all youth clubs, young farmers clubs, community first clubs and individuals not in education, employment or training across the Island.

Anglesey’s Llwyddo’n Lleol Project Officer, Lowri Ann Roberts, explained, “The Llwyddo’n Lleol project is key in the development and sustainability of the island’s economy.  Our aim is to make young people realise the potential opportunities the Island has to offer and how it’s possible for them to set-up their own business here and flourish in their chosen career.”

Llwyddon’n Lleol was launched thanks to funding from the European Social Fund to help 11-19 year olds on Anglesey develop their entrepreneurial skills.  The project is aimed at some 10,000 young people across Anglesey, Denbighshire, Conwy and Gwynedd with an opportunity to apply for Bursaries from a £200,000 fund.

The £3.8million scheme is jointly-funded by the European Union’s Convergence European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government, Anglesey County Council and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

Entertainment on the evening will be provided by Theatr Ieuenctid Ynys Môn and Elin Fflur who will also be performing and giving a talk on her singing career.

All young people are welcome to attend the conference. Should you require further information please contact Lowri Roberts on (01248) 752930 or e-mail: [email protected]
