Police Appeal: Robbery in High Street, Swansea

Incident happened at 9.25pm on Tuesday 9th November 2010

Police in Swansea are appealing for information following a robbery that occurred on the footbridge that connects High Street and Llangyfelach Street.

The victim, a 45 year old male had just left the near by William Hill Betting office at about 9.25pm on Tuesday 9th November, he began walking across the bridge in the direction of Llangfelach Street when he was approached by the suspects, who assaulted him pushed him to the ground and stole a large quantity of cash from him.

Both suspects then fled down High Street and were seen to get into a dark coloured hatchback vehicle which was parked outside the Full Moon public house, and which was later seen to drive off down High Street in the direction of the railway station.

The suspects are described as being male, white, and both had hoods and scarves covering their heads.

Detective Constable Anthony Evans of Swansea CID said “We understand that at the time of the robbery there were a number of people in the area.”

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity and witnessed the attack or saw anyone acting suspiciously in and around the area of the betting office to come forward.”

Mr Evans added “We would also like very much to trace the dark coloured hatchback vehicle. I would urge anyone who saw the culprits getting into the vehicle and driving away, or has information which could lead to the identity of the males or vehicle to come forward”
