Following severe weather warnings and an increase in wind speeds the A55 Britannia Bridge has been closed after consultation with Traffic Wales, the Highways Authorities and North Wales Police.
Alternative routes have been implemented by North Wales Police and the relevant highways authorities to allow vehicles, other than high sided vehicles and wide loads, to cross from the mainland to Anglesey.
As a result a number of vehicles have been moved to safe stopover points, until it is safe for them to cross the bridge. A stopover point is being provided at Llandegai with facilities to meet welfare needs and to provide warm food for persons affected, in conjunction with the British Red Cross and Gwynedd County Council.
North Wales Police have appealed to drivers to ensure they only make necessary journeys whilst the weather conditions prevail.
