Wrexham Council and a national home builder have joined forces to offer new apartments for sale at a 30% discount from open market value.
Prices for the 18 apartments at McInerney Homes’ Cartrefle development, on Ruthin Road in Wrexham, start from just £62,997 for a one-bedroom apartment. The properties are aimed at Wrexham residents who cannot normally afford to buy their own home.
To purchase one of these apartments, prospective home buyers potentially only have to find a 5 or 10% deposit, which is far below the size of deposit usually required by lenders at present.
The scheme allows for lower mortgage payments and a smaller outlay from buyers at a time when public cuts will start to be felt, says Stephen Grant, sales and marketing director for McInerney Homes North West.
Stephen says: “The apartments are perfect for Wrexham’s key workers like nurses and other NHS staff employed just around the corner in Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
“The chance to own your own home at these prices is very rare and we’re delighted to be working closely with Wrexham Council to pro-actively address housing needs in Wrexham.”
Mark Pritchard, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Housing and Planning said: “This is another great example of how we as an authority can work with other organisations to deliver good quality homes at affordable prices.
“Delivering affordable housing is one of Wrexham Council’s corporate priorities for 2010/11. Working with Housing Associations and local developers can help us meet affordable housing targets set by the Welsh Assembly Government. I would like to thank all members and staff for their hard work in supporting this corporate priority.”
To purchase one of the new homes buyers must be on Wrexham Council’s ‘Low Cost Home Ownership Register’, which is administered for the Council by Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd.
Priority will be given to those who currently live or work within Wrexham County Borough or who have close family connections in the Borough.
Potential buyers should act quickly to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to purchase a new home at a discounted price.
