Last week, Monmouthshire County Council launched the Bullying Prevention Strategy at a well-being conference attended by pupils from the county’s schools.
The strategy, supported by Monmouthshire Children and Young People’s Partnership, aims to encourage development of an environment where children and young people are less likely to be bullied.
The conference, held at County Hall, focussed on the emotional health and well-being of children and young people and pupils took part in various workshops exploring themes of emotion, support and friendship.
Andy Keep, Chief Officer for Children and Young People said:
“Both the strategy and the event are clear illustrations of what we believe: the health, well-being and emotional welfare of our children and young people is absolutely paramount. We are committed to combating all types of bullying and working with our partners we will make a real difference”
Cllr Hacket Pain, Cabinet Member with responsibility for children and young people said:
“The conference was very well attended and was a great success. For us, the most important part of the day was to make sure that the children and young people there knew that, if needed, they could get help and support about bullying.”
