Appeal following robbery

An appeal for witnesses and information is being made following a robbery at a petrol station in Trelawnyd last night (Sunday, November 28).

At 10.20pm two men entered the Longacres Service Station. Once inside they demanded to know where the safe was and made their way behind the shop counter where one of the offenders forced open the till and took a small quantity of cash.

Both of the offenders then ran out of the store and are believed to have headed towards Rhyl.

A mobile phone was also taken from the staff member but he was left unharmed.

The first of the two offenders is described as being of slim build, around 5ft 5′ tall. The second offender is also described as being of slim build, around 5ft 7′ tall.

Both offenders were also described as wearing dark hats and had face masks. One of the offenders was described as wearing a dark coat which had the hood up and had blue jeans and trainers. He was believed to have been in possession of a knife. The other offender was described as wearing a camouflage jacket which also had the hood up, dark trousers.

Police attended and a thorough search was made of the area which proved negative.

House to house inquiries are continuing today and Crime Scene Investigators are in attendance at the location. CCTV is also being studied as part of the investigation.

Detectives investigating are anxious to trace the driver of an old type white Skoda estate car that pulled into the garage for fuel. The driver paid for his fuel and left the garage less than a minute before the robbery took place. Detectives are calling on the motorists to contact officers at Mold CID as he may have vital information which could assist in the inquiry.
